The Brace Frame is Now Wearing a Lifevest

This brace frame is the identity of the house. It's the catch; the punchline. Some people have Pottery Barn stars, we have oversized steel. Check out our initial drawing. We have always been planning on painting it orange, or rather, orange-red (but it's NOT red).

Apparently orange exterior paint fades really easily, which is why you don't see it that often. (Also, orange is loud and dang tricky, like a teething baby.) It took us a week to figure out what TYPE of paint to use to combat this. So here it is, Lifevest Orange. Save me(!), it's beautiful.

On our last few remodel projects, I was always the painter. Think about a crusty old house - there is so much painting to do. Not on Hartanov House. This allowed me to pull my weight yesterday. We slapped on a few coats between September showers.

Well Hello, you! I love it! Once the rest of the metal gray siding is installed underneath the house, that brace frame will POP even more.

Hot! Yup, that's a semi-gloss.

Does it look like the whole house is sitting on the XX's? That's the point.

FYI, there were SO many more "lifevest" puns I could have used, but chose not to. Contest for the wittiest comment below. Winner gets a ride in the lift.
