The Installed Cabinets

Ta Da!

Okay so they are not completely assembled yet, but here is the vision! This is the cabinetry wall! We are still missing a few doors, counter tops, floors, hardware, appliances, and the rest of the island, but here is the gist! So as you can see, we have a combination of drawers, cupboards, and open shelves. The wall is obviously dark gray, with a few stainless appliances to come. The island will be wrapped in a contrasting vertical grain fir, so that it feels like a separate unit from the wall, and not too heavy. Here's a sample of the vertical grain fir, next to our darker floor sample, marine-grade mahogany plywood.

The fronts on the inside of the island are gray. Look out for a panelized dishwasher, sink, and a garbage pullout, still missing.

The right side of the cabinetry wall is designated for the kitchen. See the open spaces for the fridge and wall oven. The exposed white space will house the cook top, with a hood above it. With such a dark wall, we thought this would be the perfect space for some bright color. We hope to install bright green tile, like the image below. No tile selected yet.

The left side of the cabinetry wall is mainly for storage, books, and media. The large open space is for the latest and greatest TV, except our current model has a 12" diagonal and obviously won't require that much space. It would also be a lovely display for a piece of art. The open shelves will be great for displaying a few of our treasures. The rest will be packed with books, vacuum, ironing board, blankets, etc.

I love the presence that they bring into the room. The missing pieces will slowly start trickling in. More to come!
