Well folks, the new office has been assembled and is up and running. Here is the result of our design and product research. Can we make a functional office space out of 4 visible shelves? (Yes.) Lots of pictures - Here we go!
The final set up, in a small amount of space. We have function, people! Let's dive deeper.
Check out that sweet steel shelving. They go up to the ceiling! We like to think of these shelves as (starting from the bottom): daily, weekly, monthly, & yearly. Note the bulletin board, which holds all the scratch paper.
Everything has a home: bills, office supplies, documents, magazines, & cookbooks.
We kept the color palette pretty neutral: black, white, wood-ish stuff, and stripes.
Stripes were a must! Great document holders as well.
Every office needs a coaster. This one is from the Country Store in Walla Walla. Weird, I know, but if you've been to the Country Store it makes sense.
A plain shoebox holds the checkbooks, envelopes, and stamps. Grab and go pay bills! (Note: Bill paying is still not fun despite the exclamation point in the last sentence.)
Stay in your barracks, cords! I found the plastic containers for fishing to be the cheapest, compared to scrapbooking or craft boxes.
We decided to have one bright red binder for some of those important papers. It's hard to miss it that way. Don't worry, there are personal touches too, like the the silhouette of my mom from her childhood. (Sorry, Mom, for embarrassing you.)
Underneath the desk a old metal crate holds the recycled paper and mumbles things like, "Back in my day...".
So that's the skinny! My first organized office EVER! Time to pay the bills.
