The Master Bath Wall Tile Installation

Hi guys! We spent the last weekend tiling the shower/toilet room off our master bath. As a refresher, here is our floor plan so you can find it.

Since this room is pretty small, (but seriously large for a shower), it made sense to tile everything. We focused our efforts this weekend on the installation of the wall tiles. This room does not have power yet, so images were hard to shoot, yet you can still see the flickering of the tile. It's like a glowing grid. Love it!

You would think with 10" x 20" tiles that these walls would be done in no time, but there were plenty of cuts to make, as well as some unforeseen elements.

At one point, the wall board had to be taken off to account for some very uneven walls. Between the framing, insulation, and drywall our walls were bowed. Tyler did a lot of yelling at this wall.

This shot gives you a good perspective of the room, as well as my job - smearing each tile with thinset (aka non-edible thick frosting). Wrists are sore today!

Progress was made. Now to do the floors, followed by grout. Oh, everything takes longer than you think. Goodbye weekend. (We missed you.)

  1. Lookin good! Love the shower tile & the idea of tiling the entire room. I guarantee you'll be thankful when its time to "clean the shower". Good call. We've caught the building bug (thanks a lot!) but we're settling to live vicariously through you for now ;)

  2. Thanks Jamie! I'm giving you credit for the idea of spraying down the whole room. It's only a matter of time for you guys to build, I'm sure. :)
