The Entry Cabinet

Tyler and I are admittedly messy entryway people. (You know - dumping coats, shoes, bags, keys, mail, coolers, etc. all over the floor.) I'm currently trying to design ourselves out of this habit. Instead of having a traditional closet in the entry of our house, we are opting to create a functional cabinet to "house" our mess. I'm talking keys, mail, bags, coats, boots, gloves, etc. Considering our square footage, we actually devoted quite a bit of space for this.

As the one designing all of this, I've been struggling to finish this particular piece because I couldn't visualize the proportions. To help, I decided to use painters tape right on the future wall. This was not a genius idea, but I'm still amazed at how easily it helped me finish the design.

We are going to have this cabinet unit match our kitchen cabinets (dark gray, y'all) since they are all in the same line of sight. Finishing touches may include these silly hooks:

... and these felt baskets.

Final drawing to give to Peter, from Glanville Woodworks, to build.

Why yes, I will cross this off my list.
