The Kill Site

The morning's sun revealed the evening's carnage. Murder!

As Tyler stretched his limbs in front of the window early Sunday morning, he looked down upon the backyard to a fresh kill site. A large blood stain. A trail of fur. Half a deer carcass. No witnesses. What to make of this...
Speculations? Cougar, but with the ground slightly frozen last night, the animal left no tracks. A real escape artist. Make no mistake. We live in the city.

You can see from the picture that the carcass was left within feet of our property line instead of the park. Thanks. Not knowing what to do with this thing, we've gone with the same strategy that Tyler uses for pie - you can always come back and finish it later. So, Cougar, can you come back tonight and pick up your mess? (He did.) We're not sure what to do with what is left of the poor dear/deer.

Yes, those are park trails in the top of the picture. People have been walking by this thing all day, which has actually been quite amusing. Sweet old lady comes sashaying down the path with her dog. Will she notice it? What will she do?! What a scream! "Quick! Ty, come look out this window. A lady has her dog off the LEASH! He's going right for it!"
